| Children Services
Children's Services, a part of the Resource Coordination department, incorporates a variety of programs to children from birth through age 17 and their families, providing different degrees of case management services. The Early Beginnings Program provides a Resource Coordinator to each child and family. Coordinators in this program are employed by North Metro as well as by Adams County Early Childhood Connections and link and coordinate services to children from birth to age 3. Children from age 3 through age 17 are either enrolled in the Family Support Services Program (FSSP) or, if their parents do not need Family Support or if a child is in foster care, are monitored on an annual basis to update case files, assure placement on adult waiting lists at age 14, and remind parents of eligible children about FSSP. Because the Adams County School Districts are paid to provide the primary services to children from age 3 through age 17 (through age 21 if the student continues in the school district Transition program), North Metro is not funded to provide case management to this age group, except for those children active in FSSP, HCBS, or CES. However, parents may contact the Children's Program Coordinator, pictured above at any time with questions or concerns. Call her at (303)252-7199, or contact her by e-mail using the link below. FSSP provides resources and funding to families who need help paying for services, such as speech therapy, for their children. The FSSP Coordinator is knowledgeable about a variety of resources in the greater community and is available to parents by phone even if a child is not actively enrolled in FSSP. The Children's Extensive Support Medicaid waiver program (CES) provides Medicaid benefits and other specific services to children, birth to age 18, who are diagnosed with a developmental disability including severe behavioral and/or serious, ongoing, medical diagnoses. A child must first be found ineligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) before applying for CES. The Children's HCBS program (Home and Community Based Services), formerly called the Model 200 program, is also a Medicaid waiver program and provides Medicaid benefits to children birth to age 18 who are at-risk for hospitalization or institutionalization due to serious, ongoing medical diagnoses. A child must first by found ineligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) before applying for HCBS. Use the left hand buttons to explore each of these programs or return to the Home page. |
